Modern Warfare 2, Secrets behind the Teaser!

Who'd have thought a two-minute teaser trailer could reveal so much?

America
Yes, it's likely you'll be fighting on your own doorstep as the Russians try to turn the world against America. The high-rise buildings, electricity wires and bus all suggest an urban, almost residential feel, but it's the shop advertising 'Sports' goods to the left of the bus that gives it all away.

England
It's a possibility. England is famous for its forts and castles, and the teaser definitely shows a tower of some sort, although the antenna behind it and the street lamps in front of it are a bit confusing. Britain's involvement ties in with the idea that the Russians are trying to turn countries against one another and start a global war.

Mile High Club
The bonus level in Modern Warfare ties in with the events in the teaser, and perhaps it may even make a comeback along with characters such as Soap and possibly Gaz depending on whether you believed he survived. The teaser shows the inside of a plane, a parachutist, and the remains of a plane cut in half.

Rio de janeiro, Brazil
Eagle eyes can pick out the open-armed Christ the Redeemer on a mountain-top, which overlooks Rio. As if you needed any confirmation, the buildings in the bottom-left hand corner of the second screen are typical of Brazil's or Ecuador's favelas. The narrow streets, sharp inclines and rooftop access in a typical favela should make for an swesome single-player and multiplayer map.

Perks
The arrow on the right appears to be part of the environment, leaving us with four perks to mull over. From left to right, the first is the old Stopping Power perk, which increases a bullet's damage by 40%. The next is a winged foot, which could mean either a speed boost, a jump boost or a modified Extreme Conditioning icon. The third may be a reworked Overkill icon, or a perk that combats a knife attack. The fourth perk is contentious, with suggestions ranging from a supply drop (most likely) to a revised Revive perk from World At War.

Russia
The Russian airport sign translates to 'Security Checkpoint'. Also, just after the sound of the bag unzipping, one man says in Russian: "God is with us". A second man then says: "Remember, no Russian". It's likely the Russians are trying to disguise their identities in order to blame the airport massacre on another country. The Russian voice at the end of the teaser quotes Lenin when he says: "A revolution is not possible without a revolutionary situation".

Siberia
Plenty of clues for this one: there's the snowy map terrain along with a snowplough making tracks, a soldier who seems to be wearing mountaineering gear trying to ascend a rocky face, and a close-up view of the snowplough with a pine tree to the right of it. How do we know there's a mission set in Siberia though? The HD version of the trailer given to us by Activision was called Siberia. Simple, really.

Japan
There's little dialogue in the teaser, but the first thing we hear is a loudspeaker announcement in Japanese that sounds very similar to that which is used on the Japanese underground system.

The Ocean
The teaser is full of naval references suggesting the sequel will go way beyond Modern Warfare's heavily scripted sinking boat level. The two scuba divers mean there's a mission set underwater, perhaps tied in with the submarine that we see in another screen, or the wreckage of the aircraft that appears to be underwater. We'll probably get to play as Navy SEALs, perhaps storming that pictured oil rig after swimming underwater to it to remain undetected.

"I think is very likely to be in Brazil, Rio de janeiro. I would bet will be.

I am Brazilian and i can say the favelas and Christ the Redeemer are very similar to footage.

And there would even be great advantages of having on Brazil as will list:

1)Rio de janeiro is a very heterogeneous city with lots of land mark, and the chaotic feel adds to strategy and call of duty feel.

2) Representing Rio de Janeiro became a trend, with movies like Hulk and games like Tom clancy Hawx as example.

3) The market and publicity is good cause the Brazilian game market is bigger than appears and because adding Rio in a War game, that shows how poor/violent some areas are sure going to make some local politicians and "patriots" go nuts and angry which will generate publicity.

There is 2 movies that show Rio de Janeiro inner Favelas, and how violent and chaotic it can be. And how good for a shooter game it would be. If you interest on seeing these great movies check:

Diablo 3 Coming After StarCraft II, Blizzard Talks DRM and Steam

Diablo III "will definitely be out after StarCraft II," said Blizzard design VP Rob Pardo.

Pardo, in an extensive interview with Wired, also shed light on the company's plans for DRM and digital distribution. "Battle.net really is our most effective DRM," he said, adding, "That's really kinda been the thing that's always saved us from a lot of the PC piracy that I think hurts a lot of other single-player-only games."

Blizzard plans to similarly rely on its multiplayer match-making service to protect its interests with StarCraft II and Diablo III after their release. "No, there's no particular plans for that," said Pardo in response to a question about the games "phoning home" to check their authenticity with Blizzard servers each time before launching. "If you want to use an analogy--we take an approach that's more similar to Steam than EA, let's say," he explained.

As for Steam itself, Pardo stopped short of shooting down the idea of launching Blizzard products on the service, stating that Blizzard for now plans to stick with its own digital distribution service. "I think we're probably currently in the mindset that we're going to digitally distribute just on Battle.net. I don't know if our strategy will change in the future. I think it's something that we're just trying to get really good at doing ourselves for now," he said.

Assassin's Creed 2 Details Leaked!

The first official details for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2 were released after several people managed to get an early copy of the upcoming issue of Game Informer. As confirmed by Gamer Informer, Assassin's Creed 2 will be the cover story for the May edition of the magazine. Some of the features to be included in Assassin's Creed 2 are as follows:

* New weapons to choose from including an axe, hammer, mace, spear, two different sword types, spear axe, and two smaller blades
* The ability to swim
* Leanardo Da Vinci's workshop and flying machine
* Locations such as Saint Marks Basilica, The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, Tuscany, and the Rialto bridge
* The game will open in 1476
* You will play as Ezio Auditore de Firenze, a nobleman of Florence who is a descendant of Altair
* People such as Machiavelli, Caterina Sofrza, and Lorenzo de Medici
* New notoriety system
* Each weapon has a special move
* New way of disarming enemies by using their own weapons against them
* Sixteen unique mission types
* No pick pocketing missions
* You will be able to see a street-side doctor when injured

Dox 185.68 Nvidia Driver Update!

Dox is back again with his latest optimized driver update!
General comments
Galdere has pulled my arm for this release and its finally ready. I've changed the way the nvidia control panel gets installed and it means that it should definitely install. The side effect to this means the driver package looks small but thats no bad thing. I've also fixed the nvcpl.dll startup error for vista/win 7 x 64 users and added support for desktop & mobile geforce gpus from 6 - GT200 series. The drivers and installer were also tested on win7 and no probs. Have a look at "Whats new" to see changes since 182.46. I have not adjusted many IQ/Perf settings from the original but only added settings to ensure performance. Again thanks for the testers with this release (u know who u are).
This may be my last XP release, not too sure yet, but I've no love for it anymore.

Notes before installing
PhysX are removed from the drivers to reduce download size. You will have to download and install after you installed the drivers.
I highly recommend you fully clean uninstall the drivers before installing these.
Quadro gpus are not supported in this driver
Hybrid laptop users can install these drivers but they cannot switch to integrated graphics.

Whats new since 182.46?
-Added a minor installer feature: Installer will exit and close if it detects you are going to install drivers meant for another OS. For example running xp installer on vista will force a close.
-Re- enabled nvmctray: should fix errors a few were having of games saying they cant find the .dll
-Removed the need to be an admin to run the installer in vista and win 7: should ensure that people who have uac off will not have probs with the installer
-Removed alot of the directx and openGL hacks and only left in ones to ensure performance.
-Adjustments to the resolutions settings to be inline with Nvidia's release of this driver
-Minor bug fix to the device ids
-Added experimental dualview settings for mobile vista users only
-Done away with the different driver files to install based on each system: now mobile and desktop users will have same files installed, also this makes the package smaller than my 182.46.

Runes of Magic is a free massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the Taiwanese developer Runewaker Entertainment and adapted for the English and German speaking market by German company Frogster Interactive. After going through an open beta phase, the game was launched on 19 March, 2009. Combat Arms is a free First-Person Shooter made by Nexon Corp. It is entirely a multiplayer game with no single-player mode (although the Korean Version has a scenario/co-op mode that might be released in the Global Version), and currently contains 5 game modes: Elimination (Team Deathmatch), One Man Army (Deathmatch), Capture The Flag, Search & Destroy, and Spy Hunt.

Players who start a game are able to choose the map as well as in-game settings, including game mode and the types of weapons allowed. The game master changes to the next player in line automatically if the original master leaves. This is possible because games are hosted on Nexon servers, not by the master player. Players can attain moderator status by paying ingame-cash for an "Elite Moderator" position, which allows them to kick out players.

In every game mode except for One Man Army and Spy Hunt, a player joins one of two teams: Alpha or Bravo. In the Search & Destroy game mode, the Alpha team plants a bomb in one of two locations preselected by Nexon. The Bravo team, on the other hand, is to attempt to prevent the bomb from being planted, or defuse the bomb if they fail to defend their base. Each player is only granted one life per round so players sometimes play out each round without planting any bombs at all.

In Spy Hunt, players attempt to find 5 intel cases before any other player does. Every player starts out on the Mercenary team but compete to become spys. When an intel case is found and picked up, the player becomes a spy and is now on their own, and fights against other spy and the Mercenaries. If a spy is killed, all his intel cases are dropped. When one person is in possession of all 5 intel cases, that player becomes the Super spy, and the game enters sudden death mode. Every other player must try to kill the Super spy. The Super spy can win by killing all other players, or uploading the intel using a computer dropped at a certain place on maps with the Spy Hunt game mode. The Mercenaries can win by waiting for the time to expire or killing the Super spy. The Super spy is given 500 AP, a chain-gun, rocket launcher, and flamethrower.

1.Download This [WOW installer]-Hosted by Mediafire

2.Extract that file wherever you want, then run it, should be called InstallWoW.exe

3. Once you run it you will see a drop down menu, start with selecting World of Warcraft. Then let install.(takes a LONG time) Do not let it patch at all after you finish installing.

4. Next run InstallWoW.exe again and choose World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and let that install(also takes a long time) Once again don't let the game patch.

5. After The Burning Crusade is installed run InstallWoW.exe again and choose World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King and after it's done let it patch.

7. Okay now you need to go to where you installed World of Warcraft, the default location is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft

8. Once in that folder navigate to Data>enUS. Now find a file name realmlist.wtf and double click it(It shouldn't open up unless you have set up .wtf files to open with notepad) once you double click it a Windows Message will come up, select choose from list of files to open it with, then select notepad.

9. Now that you have the file open delete all of the text in there and replace it with:
set realmlist c4wow.servegame.com

10. Once you have set the realmlist go to the default WoW directory again and go into the cache folder(default location is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\cache ) and delete all the data in that folder, although you may not have any files in there.

Note: If by chance you want to get back to the normal WoW servers to patch or something just reopen that realmlist.wtf file and delete the text in there and replace it with:

What is the Conficker Virus?

Conficker, also known as Downup, Downadup and Kido, is a computer worm that surfaced in October 2008 and targets the Microsoft Windows operating system. The worm exploits a known vulnerability in the Windows Server service used by Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and the Windows 7 Beta.

The Conficker worm, sometimes called Downadup or Kido has managed to infect a large number of computers. Specifics are hard to come by, but some researchers estimate that millions of computers have been infected with this threat since January. Illustrating the concern about this virus, Microsoft has just put out a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for launching the Conficker worm.
What does the Conficker worm do?

We don’t know the purpose of the Conficker worm. Today the worm has created an infrastructure that the creators of the worm can use to remotely install software on infected machines. What will that software do? We don’t know. Most likely the worm will be used to create a botnet that will be rented out to criminals who want to send SPAM, steal IDs and direct users to online scams and phishing sites.

The Conficker worm mostly spreads across networks. If it finds a vulnerable computer, it turns off the automatic backup service, deletes previous restore points, disables many security services, blocks access to a number of security web sites and opens infected machines to receive additional programs from the malware’s creator. The worm then tries to spread itself to other computers on the same network.

When executed on a computer, Conficker disables a number of system services such as Windows Automatic Update, Windows Security Center, Windows Defender and Windows Error Reporting. It receives further instructions by connecting to a server. The instructions it receives may include to propagate, gather personal information and to download and install additional malware onto your computer. The worm also attaches itself to certain Windows processes such as svchost.exe, explorer.exe and services.exe.
How does the worm infect a computer?

The Downadup worm tries to take advantage of a problem with Windows (a vulnerability) called MS08-067 to quietly install itself. Users who automatically receive updates from Microsoft are already protected from this. The worm also tries to spread by copying itself into shared folders on networks and by infecting USB devices such as memory sticks.
Who is at risk?

Users whose computers are not configured to receive patches and updates from Microsoft and who are not running an up to date antivirus product are most at risk. Users who do not have a genuine version of Windows from Microsoft are most at risk since pirated system usually cannot get Microsoft updates and patches.

April 1st (April Fool’s Day) Conficker C Virus To Explode

Virus and security researchers are scrambling to find ways of preventing the Conficker C worm from playing havoc on millions of computers on April Fool’s Day.

The Conficker Cabal has been constructed. The Cabal is a collection of anti-worm researchers that have grouped together and pooled there efforts in an attempt to thwart the virus author. Microsoft has even offered a $250,000 reward leading to the arrest of the virus author.

The Conficker C worm which has code built in to automatically be set off on April 1st has believed to have already infected between 5 million and 10 million computers world-wide. Although there hasn’t been much damage created so far, April 1st will tell the story as the worm is scheduled to take over those infected computers and launch an attack.

The infected zombie computers will attack other computers world-wide creating havoc such as deleting all the files on a persons computer, shut down websites, monitor every stroke you make on your computer by collecting private information such as passwords and bank account information. The worm could also get you to purchase fake anti virus software similar to the anti virus 2009 virus that recently spread through the country in 2008 and again this year.

It can also pop up fake desktops and fake security alerts. If your system has been infected by this object please do the following:

* Download Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org.
* Download nod32 version 4
* If you can’t download it have a friend download a copy onto CD for you.
* Disable “System Restore”
* Reboot your system into “Safe Mode With Networking”
* Install “malwarebytes”.
* Install Nod32 Version 4
* Update the programs once installed.
* Run a complete scan and remove all nasties you find
* Reboot your system and update Nod32 Anti Virus.
* Reboot again this time select “Safe Mode”.
* Run a scan with Nod32 and malwarebytes
* The nasties should be gone now.

If your system is still acting rather funky, it is still infected. You probably didn’t catch all the re-install files the program installs. If this happens you may need to take your system into a professional and have them look at it.

Activision has named practically its entire 2009 line-up at an in-game advertiser meeting, including Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Speaking at an 'upfront' meeting with in-game ad company Massive Inc. (responsible for the famous Obama Burnout Paradise ad), Activision named its 2009 games including tentatively titled Guitar Hero 5, a new Tony Hawk's and Modern Warfare 2.

The sixth CoD game was already confirmed to be under Infinity Ward's wing (and not World at War dev Treyarch), but this news thankfully confirms that number six isn't the rumoured sci-fi spin-off we were dreading.

No details on the game were released, though it was roughly dated for release in autumn 2009.

In the meeting, Activision also confirmed that in the new Tony Hawk's "you're not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands." It's out on PS3, 360, Wii and DS in October. We smell a peripheral coming...

Bizarrely (ho ho), the publisher also confirmed PGR dev Bizarre Creations' first Activision racer will be a James Bond game. In fact it'll be an original racing game that's been described as "Mario Kart meets Forza". Read more on that here.

We spoke to Activision this afternoon but unfortunately the company wasn't able to provide any further details about the new games. Don't hold your breath either, as it seems unlikely there'll be anyhting more on them until early next year, but don't let that stop you sepculating in the meantime.

Men of War takes place in Europe during the height of World War II. The story unfolds across three different campaigns played out through the eyes of Soviet, Allied and German soldiers. Each campaign has its own structured timeline bringing a different story of the war to life spanning across Russia, North Africa, Ukraine, Greece, Germany, Italy and the Pacific. The main Soviet campaign sees two student comrades, Smirnov and Kuznetzov, join the army and quickly become brothers in arms as they rise through the ranks and experience the rigors of war.

Left 4 Dead puts four human playable or AI controlled survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of aggressive "Infected" zombies in a cinematic backdrop in which the players star as each character in a fictional movie. The Survivors' goal is to help each other make it through various scenarios to safety. The Infected are controlled by an AI that dynamically balances difficulty and mood depending on the players' progress and situation. In an alternate game mode, human players can control up to four different monsters with special abilities and cooperate to stop the Survivor players.

It was released on November 18, 2008 in the United States and November 21, 2008 in Europe to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the release of Half-Life.[5][6] A five-minute trailer was released on Halloween.[7] A playable demo was made available on November 6 for pre-purchasers and on November 11 for the general public. The playable demo was closed on November 18, 2008. The demo contained the first one and a half out of five maps of the "No Mercy" campaign and was playable in both single player and multi-player. Left 4 Dead went gold on November 13, 2008.

Prince of Persia is an action-adventure and platforming video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released on December 2, 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and on December 9, 2008 for Microsoft Windows. It is scheduled to be released for Mac OS X in March, 2009.

The game is set in ancient Persia, although the exact century is not revealed. In the game, the player assumes the role of the Prince, whose name is not revealed in the game. The Prince is accompanied by a girl named Elika, whom he met after a large sandstorm diverted him from his course and he ended up in a mysterious land. Players traverse many different environments using the Prince's acrobatic abilities to scale walls and even crawl on the ceilings. Throughout the journey, players combat various enemies as they attempt to cleanse the land of corruption. The game's storyline and setting borrow heavily from Zoroastrianism.

Football Manager 2009 features a vast array of all new features including,
for the first time ever, a full 3D view of the world famous Football
Manager match engine.

Football Manager 2009 (abbreviated to Football Manager 09 or FM09) is a
football manager simulation video game. It was released on PC, Mac and
Playstation Portable on 14 November 2008.

Some of the new features and box art for the game were announced via a
series of videos on 3 September 2008, other new features have been released
via a series of podcasts and online blogs.

Sports Interactive studio director Miles Jacobson stated that it was likely
that the game would make its debut on DVD: it's looking likely that the game
will need a DVD drive this year. Nothing confirmed as yet, but we were very
close to using the full CD size last year, multiple CDs is not an option
unfortunately, and I am 95% sure at this stage that we'll be too big for a CD.

The main new feature to the game is the 3D match engine. This can now be
watched fullscreen, with a widescreen option available. Other features
include being able to play as a female or male manager, improvements to
the interaction between the manager and his assistant manager, improved
mid-match team talks and tactics, training players to have preferred moves
and transfer rumours. The player rating will have a decimal point, eg. 6.8
or 8.3 instead of 7 or 8. There will also be press conferences, where you can
build up a rapport with the journalists, and the finance and transfer systems
have been completely reworked. The game is set to feature more players than
ever before, with over 350,000 in the database at the time of the game's
announcement. Many of the new features were tested using a Football Manager
Live beta. The PC version has a skin similar to the one used in Football
Manager 2008.

The handheld version will include a 2D match engine for the first time,
and the game will be shipped with two skins; a light and a dark alternative.

There were errors on the release of the game, Steam causing many people
aggrivation and pain. The effects on the franchise have been numerous, with
Steam at the heart of the problem. Due to high traffic levels, many people
were unable to activate the game, which had to be so via a product code
which was sent via the SI Games website, which was unavailable.

Compounding the problems with activation & installation, all lines of
communication with technical support have been in meltdown on launch day.
The official website of Sports Interactive has been crippled with disgruntled
users desperate to find out how to play the game. The only printed customer
services telephone number has been permanently engaged or ringing out.

An official petition to boycott the Football Manager series has been created
with over 12,000 signatures gathered by 3:30pm (GMT) on launch day. The nature
of the unrest has fell in line with similar issues with recently released
Command & Conquer 3.

Recently, SEGA had released their Empire: Total War DEMO on steam.
This game will be release on 8th March. now, i am downloading the demo.

After landing from his transport ships on the American coast, Major-General Sir William Howe led the British troops eastwards, with the intention of capturing Philadelphia.

In preparation, American General George Washington readied most of his units to defend from this frontal assault around the narrow crossing of Chad's Ford on the Brandywine. The Creek flows through the countryside of Pennsylvania, enveloped by sheer cliffs and heavily wooded hills on both sides. Knowing that much of the fast-flowing creek could not be crossed, Washington was confident of holding his position.

However, more detailed surveillance of the terrain would suggest that alternative routes could turn the battle in the favor of the British.

Battle of Lagos

As so often in 18th Century warfare, French plans to invade England during the Seven Years War were reliant on ships from the naval base at Toulon joining ships from Brest. The British had both ports blockaded, and the French had to wait for one of the blockading fleets to withdraw for re-supply before attempting any rendezvous.

The opportunity came when the British fleet under Admiral Boscawen at Toulon withdrew to Gibraltar. The French under Jean-François de la Clue-Sabran left Toulon, and began to make their way towards Brest. Passing the Straits of Gibraltar, the French were spotted by Boscawen's lookout ships.

Giving chase, Boscawen's fleet was only slightly larger than the French force, and caught up with them off the coast of Portugal where battle was joined.

Take control of the British and defeat the French to end the invasion threat to Britain.

I burned the iso image with nero.. This will fit on a dvd-rom..

Please do a clean install from system bootup with this windows cd disk. This is not a upgrade disk. The updates (hotfixes) one update to obtain online from windows update webpage kb958215.

Today i am going to post some tweaks on how to maximize your gaming experience with Vista by playing with system settings and editing the registry!

Lets get tweaking:
1.Adjust File Indexing
Vista's file indexing sounds like a good idea in theory: maintaining an index of files contained of their properties to help speed up searching.
But in reality searching for files is something that most people do on a very infrequent basis,
So it's wasteful for windows to spend any time monitoring files when that processor time could be put to much better use.
It's worth tweaking the settings so that only relevant file types are indexed.

Open the Indexing Options Control Panel and
click the 'Modify' button to choose which folders should be included in the index.
Click 'OK' followed by 'Advanced' and
use the 'File Types' tab to select which file extensions should be included.

If the feature is not needed,
head to the Programs and Features Control Panel and
click the 'Turn Windows features on.
Untick the box labelled 'Indexing Service' and
click 'OK' before restarting Windows.
File indexing can also be disabled.(see the Disable services section).

2.Configure PAGE FILE
vista generally does a good job of maintaining the page file so it's the optimum size,and it is a good idea to leave its size with automatic settings. However, If you have more than one hard drive, it's advisable to move the page file so that it's located on the fastest drive, and even if only one drive is available, moving it to a separate partition to windows can help to improve system performance.

Go to Start, right-click 'Computer' and
select ' properties' before clicking the 'Advanced system settings' link to the left of the dialog.
On the 'Advanced' tab. Click the 'Change' button and
untick the box labelled 'Automatically manage paging file size' for all drives beforeclicking 'SET'. select the entry for the C: drive and then select the 'No paging file' option.
Now select another drive or partition from the list at the top of the dialog.
select the 'System managed size' option and click 'Set' then 'Okay' it.

Most users understand the important of defragmenting hard drives to keep them performing optimally, but the standard defragmention process does not touch the page file.
One way to get around this is to temporalily disable the page file, run the standard defragmentation tool and then recreate the page file.

3.Uninstall Remote differential compression
Remote Differential Compression is a feature used in network file synchronisation to help minimise the amount of data that needs to be transferred. it's not generally a concern on a standard home network.

To uninstall this Vista feature,
open the 'Programs and Features' Control panel and
click the 'Turn Windows features on or off' link.
Untick the box next to the entry for remote diffferential compression and then click 'OK'

4. Disable Aero and transparency effects
Right-click an empty section of the desktop and select 'personalize' before clicking the 'theme' link. By opting to use the old style Classic look of Windows, Aero is disabled helping to speed up general operations.
If you'd prefer to keep the Vista look, but disable Aero effects, click 'window collor and appearance' and untick the box labelled 'enable transparency'.

5.Disable sys sounds
it may well seem insignificant, but if Windows plays a sound at startup or to accompany various events, valuable system resources are being wasted.

Open the Sound Control Panel and move to the sound tab. From the drop down menu select 'No Sounds' and indicate whether the current sound scheme should be saved. Also untick the box labelled 'Play Windows startup sound'. Other installed software, such as instant messaging tools, can feature sound effects, so it's worth looking through the preferences of these programs to disable anything that's not really needed.

6.clean up start up.
Programs which are configured to run automatically with windows are something of a double-edged sword. While a program which starts with windows is immediately available, or may help other apps to start more quickly when they are required, it can also increase boot times and reduce the amount of memory which is available to other programs. The first place to look for possible candidates for deletion is the startup group of the start menu. Expand this submenu and simply right-click a shortcut before deleting it to prevent the associated program from starting the next time windows boots. This method makes it possible to tame a number of startup programs, but it's likely that there are many more hiding in the registry.

Launch the registry editor by pressing the [Windows] and [R] simultaneously' type regedit' and press [enter]. Use the Explorer-style tree structure in the left hand panel to navigate to
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run'
and take a look through the list of programs displayed to the right. Take care not to jump in and delete everything that appears here as it is likely that at least a few of the entries are required - such as antivirus software. Many programs can be easily identified from either name or the entries path, buth if anything is unclear search for the file name online to help determine what its purpose is and whether you can live without it.
Now pay a visit to ' HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run' to see if there's anything else that can be deleted.

7. Disable SYS RESTORE
system restore is a useful feature of windows. it is, however, also a hogger of resources and, providing an alternative manual backup method has been put in place, it can be safely disabled.

Open the System Control Panel and click the 'System protection' link to the left of the dialog. On the system protection tab of system properties, clear the tick boxes next to each of the listed drives, clicking 'Turn Off System Restore' Having deselected the drive which contains Windows.

8. Disable Time stamps
Hard drive that have been formatted as NTFS partition perform better than their FAT32 counterparts, but there are a couple of features of the format that can hinder performance slightly. Unless a much older operating system needs to access files on the vista machine, there's no need for windows to create 8.3 file names for files. In a similar vein, the time stamps which are added to files on an NTFS drive, whether they are accessed or not, are little more than a waste of resources for most people. thankfuly, both of these features can be disabled by editing the registry.

Launch the Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem. In the right-hand panel, double-click the key named 'Ntfsdisable8dot3NameCreation' and assign it a value of '1'. Do The same for 'NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate'.

9. Boost SATA DRIVE performance
To ensure that SATA hard drives are delivering the best possible performance,
open the device manager by pressing [windows] and [R] simultaneously,
then type 'devmgmt.msc' and press [enter].
In the list of hardware devices that's displayed,
double-click the 'Disk-Drives' entry to expand it and then
double-click the listing for your hard drive. Move to the 'Policies' tab and
you should see that 'enable write caching on the disk' is selected by default.
by ticking the box labelled 'enable advanced performance', drive performance can be increased, but there's an increased risk of data loss in the event of power failure.
If an external drive - such as a USB drive - is plugged in and is not removed, its performance can be improved by indicating that it will be permanently connected.
After selecting the relevant drive from Device Manager, move to the policies tab and ensure that the 'Optimize for performance' option is selected before clicking'OK'.

10. Use ReadyBoost
One of the most effective ways to help boost the performance of windows is to add extra memory, and while this need not be expensive, there's an even cheaper option available. Vista's ReadyBoost feature makes it possible to use a USB drive - either a thumb drive or a fully fledged external harddrive- to supplement any RAM which is already isntalled. Although this will not improve performance to the same extent as physical memory, most USB drives used for storage are rarely used to their full capacity and this free space may as well be put to good use.

Plug in a USB drive and an autoplay window should appear- select the option labelled 'Speed up my Computer'. If this dialog is not display simply open up computer, right-click the relevant drive and select properties before moving to the 'ReadyBoost' tab. Ensure that the 'Use this device' option is selected and use the slider to indicate how much of the disk storage space should be given offer to ReadyBoost.

11.Disable UAC
User Account Control has proved to be one of vista's popular features by a long chalk. The handholding security warnings that get displayed when performing a range of common tasks serve only to irritate most computer users but the good news is that they can be banished in a variety of ways. UAC can be disabled via the control panel, by editing the registry or by adjusting Group Policy Settings, but the quickest and easiest option is to use MSConfig.

Press [Windows]+[R], type 'msconfig' and press [enter]. Move to the 'tools' tab and select the entry labelled 'Disable UAC'. Click the 'Launch' button and a command prompt window will appear - simply close this down when the operation is complete and then restart windows to save the new setting. If you need to, UAC can be quickly re-enabled by repeating these steps, but this time select the 'Enable UAC' option within MsConfig.

12.Disable Special Effects
Even with the more simplistic look in place, Vista still uses range of special effects in an attempt to make the desktop look better.
click 'Windows Color and Appearance' Followed by the 'Effects' button and then untick all three boxes that are displayed.
To disable some or all of these effects, Press [windows]+ [Pause/break] simultaneously and click 'Advanced system settings' to the left. On the 'advanced' tab, click the first of the three settings buttons and disable any of the effects that you don't want to use before licking 'OK'.

13.Tweak SuperFetch
there's certainly some controversy surrounding the idea that disabling vista's superfecth feature actually helps to improve performance - to a large extent it will really depend a great deal on how you use your computer.

launch the Registry Editor and pay a visit to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement\PrefecthParameters'. In ther right-hand of the panel, locate the key named 'EnablePrefetcher' and double-click it. you'll find that its default value will be '3'. What this ddoes is automatically cache both application data and boot files. If you change this value to '2' this will ensure that only boot files are cached. However, changing its setting to '1' will cache only application data. and setting it to '0' will disable caching altogether. SuperFetch can also be disabled using the Services console take a look at the 'Disabling Vista Services' section For more details. It is also worth clearing out the contents of ' C;\windows\Prefetch' from time to time, to force windows to rebuild the cache from scratch.

14. disable disk space checking
two reasonably pointless fetures that are found in vista involve the annoying display of balloon tips and checks to ensure that you are not running out of hard drive space. Disabling both of these features may not make a massive difference to performance, but in conjunction with other munor tweaks, every little boost will help leach back resources.

Launch the registry editor and navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer' before clicking 'Edit'>'New'>'DWORD (32bit) value'. Name the new item 'NoLowDiskSpaceChecks' and then double-click it before assigning it a value of '1'. Now you'll need to navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced' and look for three DWORD values called 'EnabledBalloonTips','FolderContentsInfoTip' and 'StartButtonBalloonTip' , creating them if they do not already exist. Double-click each value in turn and assign each of them a value of 0.

15.Disable Hardware
In the days of Windows Xp, it was possible to create hardware profiles which could be used for different purposes. For general computing a profile where available hardware devices were enabled was ideal, while when it came to gaming, a profile which only loaded the drivers for hardware which was essential was better suited.
Unfortunately, hardware profiles were dropped from vista and there isn't any proper alternative. That said, it's still worth checking that all of the hardware you have installed is essential, and if there's anything which isn't used very often, or indeed at all, it can be unplugged and uninstalled vua the device manager.

Press [Windows]+[pause/break], click the 'Device Manager' Link and expand the tree structure to display all currently installed hardware. RIght-click an item to be disabled and select 'Disable', reversing this process when the device is needed again.

16.Maintain Your HDD
it's an obvious point but if you want to ensure maximum performance at all times, it's important to take care of your hard drive. Unnecessary files and programs are waste of space and can lead to drive that runs inefficiently when the process of tidying up your harddrive can be automated to some degree.

Click the 'Start' orb and then click 'All Programs'>'Accessories'>'System Tools'>'Disk Cleanup'. Choose a drive from the drop down menu and click 'OK' to perform a scan. From the list that displayed, select any of the types of file, which should be deleted and click 'OK' to start a clear out.
Additional Space can be freed up by moving to the 'More options' tab and using two buttons to remove unwanted software and unnecessary System Restore Points. Having deleted a large amount of unwanted data, defragmentation is important to help better organize the files on your drive. Launch disk defragmenter from the system tools section of the start menu and click 'Defragment' now to start the optimisation process.

As with all previous versions of windows, the VISTA OS is ripe for a right good tweaking, and spending a little time customising operating system settings can pay noticeable dividends, helping to dramatically improve system performance. The time spent adjusting settings is, frankly, a small piece to pay for squeezing abit more power from your rig, and it's certainly a cheaper option than heading out and buying a new system and hardware upgrades.
